class2009

The 2009 Shore Leadership session kicked off with a two-day retreat at the Aspen Institute's Marriott Conference Center at Wye Woods.

Since 1997, the Shore Leadership program has been providing executives and senior managers on Maryland's Eastern Shore with a broader perspective and deeper understanding of the issues and challenges facing the region. Armed with a clearer understanding of the many sides of an issue, they are better prepared to work toward solutions that will sustain and improve the quality of our communities, workplaces, and environment.

With the guidance of a certified coach, participants hone their leadership skills and learn how to use those skills to build teams, foster collaboration, and become more effective in the workplace and the community.

Participants engage in a broad range of experiences focused on the Eastern Shore as a whole--its people, its needs, its economy, and its services. Through face-to-face discussions with community leaders and experts from organizations and institutions helping to form the structure of our region, class members develop an in-depth understanding of the interrelationships and complexities of the region.

More than 250 leaders in businesses, not-for-profit organizations, governmental agencies, and educational programs have advanced through the Shore Leadership program since its founding in 1994. Those graduates are serving in key leadership positions throughout the Shore, where they are putting their Shore Leadership experience to work toward sustaining and enriching life on the Shore.

If you are interested in becoming a more effective leader here on the Shore, then you should apply for Shore Leadershipo.

Applications are now being accepted for the 2010 class. Click here to download a brochure and an application (pdf files).
